Liebherr Canada Shop/Office Facility

Construction of Liebherr Canada's New Heavy Equipment Facility was competitively awarded to PCL-Maxam, a Joint Venture in the fall of 2000. This 21,000 sf design-build shop/office complex utilizes a combination of pre-engineered and conventional construction. Unique features of the maintenance shop include:

• A 47' clear dimension at the centerline of the building, which allows the booms of mobile cranes under repair to be extended inside the building.
•  The installation of 2 overhead cranes, one 10-Ton capacity, and one 20-Ton, both are TRSG overhead cranes and have a span of 60 ft.

To avoid the possibility of a collision between the overhead cranes and the extended boom of a mobile crane under repair, anti-collision sensors were installed.   The design of this shop also allowed for a 50-ft long in-floor service and lube pit.
