Project Description
This innovative three-story concrete structure is the NAIT HP Centre for Information and Communication Technology and forms a link between the Main Campus and the Engineering Annex. An overhead pedway, crossing 107 Street, serves as the "Gateway" to the NAIT Main Campus. 56 high-tech labs and 20 classrooms make up the technical teaching space of this building. It also features a unique computer common area where students can meet in a very large space that allows computer access to the data network and a state-of-the-art teleconference room. The remainder of the building comprises NAIT's new computer store, cafeteria, staff offices, support area, and a 200-stall parkade in the basement. The architecture of this building was designed in such a way that many of the building elements remain exposed so that the building can be used as a teaching and classroom resource (visual teaching) not only for the IT programs but also for many of the other technical programs offered at NAIT. The architect used an abundance of exposed concrete throughout the facility.
