Calgary Zoo - Tropical Asia (Elephant Crossing)

The Calgary Zoo's Elephant Crossing project will provide a new home for the zoo's four Asian elephants and its new baby elephant born on August 9, 2007.

In February 2006 we started the site services, construction of an exterior concrete amphitheatre and removal of the old building exhibit. A portion of the existing building was not demolished, as it was left to house the elephants during the construction of the new building. The new building includes an elephant display area, a pool, an indoor amphitheatre, and a multiuse space for educational purposes. Two new exterior yards were also created to allow the elephant keepers to separate the elephants as part of their programming. 

As with the Calgary Zoo: Destination Africa project, we were again engaged in preconstruction services to provide budgeting, planning, and help in the design and constructability of the project.  We also provided value engineering to bring the project down to the budget that would allow the project to proceed.
