Project Description
The TransCanada Tower was a design-build project in which the management responsibilities from concept design, working drawings through construction, and commissioning was successfully demonstrated by an early project completion of over four months and a project that was under budget. The project consists of a five storey (245,000 sf) underground parking garage and a 36 storey (1,080,000 sf) office tower, five podium levels and 31 typical office floors. The building is a reinforced concrete structure with 45' and 50' clear concrete spans with post-tensioned beams for deflection control. The exterior skin is a unitized curtainwall system, incorporating pewter glass on the podium levels and green and blue glass on the east and west elevation of the building. A five storey winter garden on the south elevation of the building ties in two +15 bridges to the project. In addition to the base building, new tenant office interiors were enhanced which extended the project scope and duration.
