Current Progress

•      Construction access will continue through the east (to MB) and west (to NLT) entrances.

•      Biosci will be experiencing a high degree of vibration and noise as backfill and dowel installation work continues.

•      NORTH LECTURE THEATRE: Complete minor backfilling of foundation walls. Complete L1 structural slabs. Pour mechanical housekeeping pads. Place mechanical air handling unit in LL2 mechanical room. Complete L1 concrete columns. Pour L1 slab on grade. Continue concrete risers in theatres.

•      MAIN BUILDING: Relocate access ramp. Complete piling. Continue forming and pouring pile caps. Continue forming and pouring centre tower LL2 north foundation walls, stair shafts and elevator shafts. Continue installation of under slab mechanical and electrical rough in. Continue forming and pouring LL2 columns into centre tower. Continue dampproofing/waterproofing and weeping tile on exterior foundation walls. Commence minor backfill of exterior foundation wall. Commence underslab granular in quad lecture theatre and east tower.

•      PHYSICS OBSERVATORY: Install spreader beams, frame roof curbs, roof in curbs and counter flash. Commence cladding and install roof pavers.

•      HEAD HOUSE: On hold pending completion of design drawings and tendering.

Project Description

The Centennial Centre forr Interdisciplinary Sciences (C.C.I.S.) Phage 2 is designed to work as an educational and research facility fo nearly 3,800 occupants.  Serving as a campus crossroads for science students and faculty members, the C.C.I.S. Phase 2 building will be an interactive centre for educational and interdisciplinary science program functions.

The total gross building area of 52,220m2 will consist of two distinct components.  The main building will consist of a series of multi-storey structures commonly linked and a Lecture Theatre building which will be located immediately to the east of the existing Bio-Science building.  The main building will encompass office, office support, institutional facilities, research laboratories, supporting laboratories and building support area.  As much as 40% of the area will be below grade as a means of reducing the visual impact on the surrounding campus.
