Project Features/Highlights

Current Progress

July Construction Status:

 

Mall Renovation

·         Carpet installation started.

·         Lower/Upper Concourse A and General Zone 1 (GZ01) deficiency clean up has started.

·         New backing for planters completed in General Zone 1 (GZ01), General Zone 6 (GZ06) and General Zone 7 (GZ07).

·         Millwork has started at the vending area in Upper Concourse A (UCA).

·         Escalator pit and structural steel rework completed in General Zone 7 (GZ07) to accommodate the new escalator.

·         The new escalator in the south entrance is now open to the public.

·         Millwork finishes will proceed around the escalator.

·         Floor tile installation in General Zone 6 (GZ06) has been completed.

·         General Zone 2 (GZ02) drywall installation, sprinkler rework and the new bulkhead are completed.

·         Sprinkler work started in General Zone 3 (GZ03), General Zone 4 (GZ04) and the Sports Zone (SZ).

Mall Addition

·         NS1 and elevator core roof slab completed.

·         Phase 2 tunnel completed.

·         Structural steel, metal deck and second floor slab completed in Area C.

·         Loading dock excavation, footings and wall formwork completed.

·         Remaining footings are excavated and poured.

Other Phases

·         Bid Package 8 site work is underway. Concrete curbs are completed. Irrigation works are being undertaken by Ivanhoe Cambridge.

·         Restoration Hardware new demising wall was relocated.

Project Description

The renovation and addition to Southcentre Mall will see one of Calgary's premiere shopping destinations transformed into a comfort shopping experience. During our aggressive sixteen month schedule we will build an 8,000 square metre addition, relocate the existing food court, add new entrances, and bring the interior finishes up to hotel grade standards.

The use of natural light, innovative artificial lighting and elegant finishes will create an ambience to attract upscale retail chains not normally seen in Canada.  Upgrades to the main mall raceways will include: new drywall, modern paint colours, tile, upgraded lighting and mechanical, and new elevators and escalators.

Our task is to work with the owner and consultants to achieve the goals within a reasonable budget and timeframe. We continue to provide preconstruction and project management services to the owner, assisting them to set appropriate budgets to achieve the owner's vision.
