Past Month Project Schedule

Progress in June:

·            Forming the second floor office tower slab and terrace slab is ongoing.

·            PCL high flyers arrived on site.  Construction and setting of the flyers is on going for third floor pour.

·            Columns, cores and shear walls are 100% complete from main to second floor.

·            Stairs and landings are ongoing in the office tower parkade core.

·            Loose forming of the suspended slabs is ongoing in the residential tower 1 section of the parkade with main floor 100% formed.

·            Column, cores, shear walls and foundation walls are complete to underside of main in the residential tower parkade.

·            Slab on grade is 75% complete in residential tower 2 section of the parkade.

·            Lean mix backfill and waterproofing is ongoing.

·            The clarifier and dewatering system continue to operate on site.

Next Month's Project Schedule

Progress next month:

·            Loose form structural slabs will conclude on the second floor office slab.

·            Cores and columns will continue from second to third floor in the area of the office tower.

·            The first two  typical slab pours will occur for the third floor of the office tower.  The typical floors are broken into two pours north and south.

·            Loose form structural slabs will continue on main and commence on second floor on the residential tower 1 area of the podium.

·            Columns and shear walls will continue on the residential tower 1 area of the podium.

·            Residential tower 2 SOG and foundation walls will continue.

·            Removing whalers and lagging will continue to allow waterproofing and backfill.

·            The clarifier and dewatering system will be ongoing.

·            Clean up and repair of the fire damaged concrete (vertical) will be completed in July.

Project Description

This 102,400 metres squared development will include four levels of underground parkade, an Office Tower, and two Residential Towers located in downtown Calgary.  The foundations, parkade and super structures will be constructed of reinforced concrete.  The three new building silhouettes and especially the angular roof tops will bring more interest to the Calgary skyline.  Construction started in October 2006 with a forecasted completion of June 2010.

As the design and construction phases of this project overlap, PCL and other major trades (curtain wall, electrical and mechanical) are in design assist roles.  Our earliest successes with the design assist approach have been the creation and use of our own excavation and concrete lift drawings.

The Keynote project is a role model for continued urban development in Calgary.  Mixed-use design and planning is not a new concept, but one that has not been implemented to this extent before in Calgary.  The terms "Live, Work, Play" describe the opportunities offered within this mixed-use urban village.
